OTR: Saving Our Shores — The Pine Key Island Project (ep 72)

Known as Beer Can Island, Pine Key Island in Tampa Bay received its nickname for garbage laden landscape it once had. But a group of friends purchased the island in 2017, setting out to reclaim and restore it. Since then, they have removed several tons of garbage and beautified the landscape, making it a popular meeting place for local boaters. A place so loved that acclaimed singer Matt Billor even wrote a song about it, which he will be performing on the show! But the island is now facing a challenge from Mother Nature — erosion. Cole Weaver, one of Pine Key Island's owners, joins Matt to talk about the effort to protect and expand the island’s beaches — and how you can help save our shores!
